Hi, I’m Sister Maggie Slighte!

After more than 45 years praying to God, searching for a church that believed what I knew in my heart; I was baptized a Latter-day Saint in March 2013.

This blog contains my reflections and observations of my spiritual journey as it has happened and of my relationship with my Heavenly Parents as it continues to evolve. This is my spiritual blog.

Who am I? I am Maggie Slighte, born Margaret Slighte, but having gone by many names as my Heavenly Parents gifted me with a neurodivergent (combination ADHD and Ausitic) brain and life gifted me with the challenges of a connective tissue genetic disorder (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) which has allowed me to experience chronic pain for the majority of my half century of life.

God has always been a special interest of mine. My own relationship with Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Parents has been a work in progress for my entire life. I welcome you to my open and authentic sharing forum.

After a whisper from the Holy Spirit in the summer of 2020, I was impressed to start a podcast called Strangers No More. Within the context of studying the Doctrine and Covenants and Latter-day church history with a group of strangers, I have continued my spiritual journey.

What does my home life look like? I use a powerchair and I live with my two dogs:  a Pitador (Pit bull-Labrador) companion who is the princess of my life and my service dog in training. She added her son, “Ruger Bear,” to our family in Sept 2016, he will be trained to replace her as my service companion when it is time for her to retire.

I’m currently finishing my first book, The Car That Ran on Prayers about my last year unhoused, living in a 1983 Volvo sedan, traveling across the country to graduate from college.

My author website with more of my “worldly writing” and links to all of my writing outlets is MaggieSlighte.com.

Thank you for your interest!

I hope & pray for everyone to have a blessed life, full of Our Lord’s Holy Love and Lighte!!

  1. I am writing to request the use of one of your memes for a lesson I am giving in church. Like you I love the scripture 2 Nephi 31:20. I wanted to ensure that you would allow me to use this as a visual with the sisters in my ward congregation.
